GPRS is a packet-switching data network that is
overlaid on the existing cellular voice network, using the same radio
frequencies and cellular towers. When combined with the existing Global
System for Mobile communication (GSM), GPRS offers a complete voice and
data solution with significant advantages over other solutions. Intel
views GPRS as an important step in the evolution of wireless
communications, and is helping to advance this technology. Organizations
that rely heavily on wireless Wide Area Networking should consider implementing a GPRS solution. This paper is intended to provide a detailed introduction to GPRS technology. Sources for further information are provided at the end of the paper.
